Lush green countryside and natural reserves surrounded by mountains over 2300m high, Lake Annecy is favorable to family walks and sporty hikes.
Walks and small family hikes :
- Natural reserve of Bout-du-Lac : crossed by two rivers flowing the lake of Annecy, it is rich in wildlife (birds, amphibians, beavers, insects ...). Nice walk in the wild and unspoilt reedbed, accessible to all types of public (including strollers and wheelchairs) with a landscaped educational path.
- Natural reserve of Roc de Chère : several paths, all beginning from the golf's parking. Beautiful point of view on the "small lake" and the castle of Duingt. Baby Carrier OK, no stroller
- Col de la Forclaz : car access to the Col, then park next to the shops/restaurant. 15min walk to go until paragliders takeoff, stunning panoramic view! Baby Carrier OK, no stroller
- Sambuy : chairlift to access easily to the subalpine level, nature trail, children's entertainment in the summer, mountain chalet with goats, summer sledding, perfect for an all-day trip! Baby carrier OK, all-terrain stroller only
- Semnoz : access by car to the top, from the Cret de Chatillon panorama of the surrounding mountain ranges, overlooking Mont Blanc on a clear day! Baby carrier OK, all-terrain stroller only
- Angon waterfall : on the road to Col de la Forclaz, park just before the place called Verel (sign "Cascade d'Angon"). Nice walk in the forest, little gradient, playful with children (passing under a small waterfall, climbing with a chain), sometimes a bit slippery at the end but fitted with barriers. Baby carrier OK (mind your head at the end!), no stroller
Hikes and trails :
- Charbon : start in Saury (side of Lake Annecy). Forest trail, nice secure passing in the carved cliff, lake views. 5 hours hiking, medium difficulty.
- Taillefer : beautiful points of view, between "Little Lake" and "Great Lake". 3h30 hiking, medium difficulty.
- Mont-Veyrier and Mont-Baron : forest trail, with beautiful lake views from the ridges. Hiking 4 hours, medium difficulty.
- Tournette : the highest mountain around Lake Annecy, it offers to its summit a magnificent view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Caution with late snowfields. Hiking 5h30-6h, difficult.
- Dents de Lanfon : impressive viewpoint on Lake Annecy, this 6h-6h30 hike is difficult.
